7.1.2. IGU Courses on Affordable and Clean Energy

During the 2025–2026 academic year, various sustainability-oriented courses related to affordable and clean energy are offered at IGU. Through these courses, listed in the table below, students are provided with opportunities to develop in-depth knowledge and competencies in areas such as renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, energy conversion technologies, energy economics, and sustainable development. Offered at associate, undergraduate, and graduate levels, these courses provide students with an interdisciplinary learning environmental by integrating technical, economic, and environmental perspectives.

New programs were launched within the Vocational School in the Fall Semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. These programs include Electricity Energy Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Carbon Management Technician, Digital Conversion Electronics, and Autonomous Systems Technician.

In addition, with the aim of introducing the University's sustainability vision to all students, the course Introduction to Sustainability is included in the compulsory course pool of some faculties and schools and in the elective course pool of others. Through this course, students become familiar with the global Sustainable Development Goals and develop the ability to approach the relationship between energy, the environment, and society from a holistic perspective.

7.1.3. IGU Laboratories on Affordable and Clean Energy

IGU has a total of 152 laboratories and workshops supporting research, education and practical activities; 7 of them are directly relevant to SDG 7 and are listed below. These laboratories have been established to support the development of sustainable energy systems, the modeling of energy efficiency applications, and the analysis of environmentally friendly technologies, while providing students with a practical and experience-based learning environment. Seven laboratories directly relevant to SDG 7 are listed below.

This infrastructure has been designed to facilitate interdisciplinary studies and is actively used by undergraduate and graduate students and researchers from various fields, including engineering, architecture, environmental sciences, and energy systems. Through these facilities, students have the opportunity to relate their theoretical knowledge to real-world problems and gain practical experience in areas such as the design of renewable energy systems, energy efficiency analysis, sustainable building technologies, and environmental impact assessment. These laboratory environments also provide the necessary infrastructure for energy-focused graduation projects, TÜBİTAK-supported research, and applied studies aimed at contributing to society.
